A slight tweak to my favorite soliloquy:
To regulate or not to regulate: that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer The slings and arrows of outrageous CO2 emitters, Or to take arms against a sea of polluters, And by regulating end them? To die: to change; Evermore; and by a change to say we end The heart-ache and the thousand unnatural toxins That flesh is heir to, 'tis a consummation Devoutly to be wish'd. To die, to change; To change: perchance to dream: ay, there's the rub; For in that dream of death what changes may come When we have shuffled off this pollutive industry, Must give us pause: there's the respect That makes calamity of conscious consumption;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time, The bureaucracy's wrong, the polluter's contumely, The pangs of dispriz'd ecosystems, the law's delay, The insolence of office and the spurns That environmentalists of the energy corporations take, When they themselves might their quietus make With non-violent civil disobedience? Who would fardels bear, To grunt and sweat under weary legislation, But that the dread of something after coal-fired electricity, The undiscover'd country from whose bourn No CEO returns, puzzles the will And makes us rather bear those ills we have Than fly to others that we know not of? Thus conscience doth make cowards of us all; And thus the native hue of resolution Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought, And enterprises of great pith and moment With this regard their currents turn away, And lose the name of action. Don't lose the name of action, do something to change the way we generate electricity now! Call or write your legislator, join a conservation group, or simply reduce your electricity consumption... Whatever it is, don't just sit there surfing the internet, take action! Last update: 17-11-2008 22:42
